FAQ

  • You are not alone!

Here’s what happens: We will talk. We will coach. We will have you sit and stand. We will have you change outfits. We will ask you questions. The first fifteen minutes are usually weird until we get into the groove and relax. It’s like the first pancake…it’s usually burnt and gnarly until the temperature is right and the batter is perfect. Some things will work, others will not. We will shoot through those awkward moments and delete those images later. We will tell stories and then laugh because ridiculous things will be said. You will forget you’re getting your picture taken and before you know it…you’ll be done.

Then you’ll say, “Really? That was actually kind of fun.”

  • Of course! After booking your session, we’ll send you an email with specifics on wardrobe recommendations. If you still have questions, we’ll be happy to chat, look at photos of your selections and for our branding clients, we set up a mood board on Pinterest. We also have a fabulous stylist who can be booked separately. There will be a clothing rack set up for your use.

  • Yes. Absolutely. 99% of the images on our website and social media have had their hair and make-up professionally done. The HMU artists we work with have been in the industry for decades and bring that knowledge and experience to your session. From the second you walk through the door, the HMU artist is there to support you—first as she gets you camera-ready, and then, she is on-set the entire time as a second pair of eyes—she adjusts hair, suggests poses and wardrobe changes, and pops in and out of the frame to make small changes that translate into a variety of different looks.

Communication is key and we will always make sure you approve of the hair and makeup choices.

Please note, the HMU person is paid separately.

  • For the headshot and modeling sessions, we’ll be shooting at my bright, naturally lit home studio in Darien, CT. Branding sessions will depend on the images needed. High school seniors have a choice of: an urban setting, beach setting or field/wooded setting depending on the look they’re going for.

  • Dark and moody images are beautiful but not my professional aesthetic. The NNP brand is based on the style you see on the website: clean and bright, with pops of color and big catch-lights in the eyes. When I started out, I shot all different kinds of images but found myself drawn to the look I’m now known for.

  • Within a day of the session, we’ll send you sneak peeks to share with friends and family, and then within two weeks, you’ll receive an email with a link to a private online gallery. There’s also an option to rush delivery for an additional fee.

  • We do a soft edit on the entire gallery and then a final edit on the images you select in your package. We want you to look natural and recognizable, so the edit will include: flyaways, whitening teeth, and blemish removal. Additional editing can be requested for an added fee.

  • You bet! We’ve played everything from oldies, to acoustic, to country and even hip/hop/rap. You let us know what you feel like and we’ll stream it!

  • 2-3 hours

HMU is usually 1-1.5 hours and the shooting session is usually 1-1.5 hours.

  • Bummer! But it happens. We request a 48 hour cancellation and a rescheduling within 2 months.

If you cancel on the day of your session, are more than 45 minutes late or don’t show, you will forfeit your session fee.

  • Yes. Every once in a while, our black cat, Caramel Pumpkin, does indeed grace us with her presence.
